Rosey Red, Mr. Red Legs and Hand Cranked Ice Cream

Rosey Red

A hot 92 degree sunny, hot, humid day down along the Ohio River at the Great American Ball Park, Cincinnati, Ohio.  The smell of meat cooking on a sizzling hot grill filled the air with wonderful summer time
Bar-B-Que arroma.
Mr. Red Legs

A long awaited game of the Cincinnati Reds vs. the Cleveland Indians.  It was a fun day to take our grown children and grand children for a day of high spirited & all American pass time.

Boaters enjoying the river on this hot day.

Grandson, Tucker.

Granddaughter, Kate
And Grandson, Blake.  Happy with a ball thrown up by one of the players while practicing.

Enjoying a game of their favorite team vs. our favorite team.
Even though the Reds have done poorly this season, their fans stay true.  It was a sold out game.

A fly ball was sent our direction.
The bat boy kindly threw our grandson's the ball.
It was a good game for them.  The Indians won.

The new Great American Ball Park is nice but, I can't help but think of the spirit of baseball as it was in the 60's in this great old Cincinnati favored ball park known as Crosley Field.  You could see the park  from I-75 and look down on folks enjoying the game at times.  The smell of popcorn, peanuts and beer waft in the air.  It was centered in a working man's neighborhood and it had a great personality all it's own with a very unique well loved announcer, Joe Nuxhall on WLW to match.

I remember the shoe box of baseball cards my older brother John collected.

Those were great cards.  I remember him going through them and talking about the players and how he stacked them just so with a rubber band.

It's a good feeling to know our little grands will have memories of their own to share with their children of the fun times going to a baseball game.

Dennis with our grands cranking ice cream at a family picnic gathering.

Many different yard games for the little ones.  Corn Hole, croquet, wiffle ball, water balloons, kick ball.  All the favorites were there to choose from.

Great family members to spend a relaxing afternoon with.

Aaah, summer...you're hot but you bring us together in the best way!
I hope you are enjoying your summer, your family and this wonderful weekend marking our freedom.
Happy 4th of July to you and yours.
Love,

P.S.  "Go Reds"!
